Spiritual Plants Used in Ceremonies

Fir (杉树叶)>>>

This plant is used in Shinto rituals as it symbolizes the sweep or the Spiritual Sweep. It is quite similar to Willow leaves, but in Shinto, the Fir will need to be enhanced for it to become a spiritual sweep. By swaying the Fir around the premises, the spiritual master is trying to get rid of the stubborn entities. If worse come to worst, if the above plants cannot be found, we will use this leaves in rituals.

Du Song aka. Juniper (杜松) >>>

Juniper or otherwise known as Du Song, is used more widely in traditional Chinese weddings (in the Southern Part of China). It is tied with red string and tucked behind the bride's ear or hair, as it symbolizes the bride bringing luck and prosperity into the groom's family. This is also used in rituals if other leaves cannot be found. For normal Taoists or Chinese, we can just pluck a stick of Juniper, tie it with a red string and then hang it outside the house or any premises to assist in warding off any negative entities and usher in positive blessings for its occupants.

Pomegranate Leaves (石榴叶)>>>

This plant is very similar to the pomelo leaves. But something very interesting about this plant is that it is a spiritual sensitive plant. If a person who have their menstruation, is pregnant or in their mourning period, etc. (considered spiritually unclean) goes and pluck the leaves of the plant. After a period of time, the plant will mysteriously wither. Thus, to prevent such a thing from happening, do hang a red packtet with a red string on the plant after plucking a small segment off it.

Pomelo Leaves (柚子叶) >>>

This can be bought from flowers shops. It is usually used for cleansing purposes, be it for cleansing a person or an area. It is believe to ward off any bad luck.

Willow Leaves (杨柳)>>>
This is a plant used in Taoist salvation rituals (both for Mortals & Souls) but due to the difficulty of finding such plants/trees, pomegranate leaves have been used as a replacement. Deities such as Tai Yi Jiu Ku Tian Zun and Zi Zai Ci Hang Tian Zun (normally known as Guan Yin) are seen holding this sacred plant.

willow Leaves are used to symbolize the Spiritual Whisk. Once the Willow leaves ae being dip into water and sprinkled out, the water will be enhanced with positive energies in order to eliminate the negative entities and also by using the positive energies it will lessen or wash off the sins and debts of all beings, thus it is considered a sacred plant and very important in salvation rituals.
P.S.: Do keep in mind, do pluck the leaves only when necessary as others may need to use them when situations arises.
Thank you very much for your co-operation! =)
